Safari With Children Works Best When It's Unhurried

The biggest mistake with a family safari is trying to fit in too many parks. Two parks, three to four nights each, with a private vehicle rather than a shared one, gives children room to nap, ask questions, and get properly excited about the animals instead of being rushed from one game drive to the next.

Age minimums vary by park and lodge. Some camps set a minimum age for game drives (commonly 5–6 years) for safety reasons. Tell us your children's ages early on and we'll only suggest parks and lodges that genuinely welcome them.
